A small, focused team building a calm home for Vachanas.
Mission
Vachanas are one of the most remarkable literary traditions of South India — centuries of short, direct, often radical verses written in a way that meets the reader as a peer. They deserve a place to live that feels considered, not commodified.
Saarathi exists to make those verses, and the community that reads and discusses them, easy to find and pleasant to spend time with. We are building the kind of app we would want to use ourselves: legible, respectful of attention, and considered in how it asks for your attention.
The company behind Saarathi
Saarathi is built and operated by Basavaiah LLC, a limited liability company registered in the Commonwealth of Virginia, United States. The company is small — on purpose. We would rather make one thing well than many things poorly.

How we work
A few principles we’ve committed to in writing:
- The product is the product. Saarathi’s revenue model is — today — nothing. If we introduce paid features, they will be optional, clearly priced, and announced with notice.
- Your data is yours. You can delete your account, with all the personal data behind it, from inside the app. We document exactly what we collect and why in our Privacy Policy.
- Respect the source material. Translations and annotations are credited. Where we’re uncertain, we say so.
- Slow is fine. We’d rather ship one careful update a month than five rushed ones a week.
What we deliberately don’t do
It’s easier to trust a product when you can see what its owners have decided not to build. We don’t:
- Sell, rent, or trade your personal data.
- Use dark patterns, fake urgency, fake notifications, or notification spam.
- Hide our account-deletion flow.
